Askey Showcases Licensed Band Radio (LBR) Powered by Qualcomm Dragonwing™ Platforms at Network X 2026
Oct.14,2026

Vienna, October 14, 2026 – Askey is showcasing its Licensed Band Radio (LBR) solution at Network X 2026, powered by Qualcomm Dragonwing™ platforms. Designed to address the growing demand for high-capacity and cost-effective broadband connectivity, LBR leverages Millimeter Wave technology to provide a flexible approach to Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) and wireless infrastructure connectivity.
LBR enables telecom operators and service providers to deliver reliable, fiber-like wireless broadband to residential and enterprise customers. With a streamlined architecture that does not rely on a 3GPP-based network, LBR can help simplify network design while reducing deployment complexity and cost, making it well suited for high-capacity and high-density FWA deployments.
Beyond last-mile connectivity, LBR also supports high-speed point-to-point wireless backhaul, with multi-gigabit throughput and low latency. This allows operators to efficiently extend network infrastructure and connect locations where deploying physical fiber may be challenging or costly.
By leveraging licensed mmWave spectrum, the solution provides operators with a scalable and flexible approach to expanding broadband connectivity. Its “air-fiber” approach enables high data rates without the need to deploy physical fiber, helping operators extend broadband services to new areas with greater deployment flexibility.
LBR is powered by two Qualcomm Dragonwing™ platforms: the Qualcomm Dragonwing™ Point-to-Multi-Point (PtMP) Platform and the Qualcomm Dragonwing™ Point-to-Point (PtP) Platform. The solution combines custom FWA mmWave access points and CPEs with licensed spectrum, supporting reliable, high-capacity connectivity, multi-standard frame synchronization, and an end-to-end deployment approach.
“By combining Askey’s expertise in broadband connectivity and network solutions with Dragonwing platforms, we are bringing a flexible new approach to wireless broadband and infrastructure connectivity,” said Robert Lin, Chairman of Askey. “Our LBR solution is designed to help operators deliver reliable, fiber-like connectivity for both residential and enterprise applications, while its streamlined architecture also enables high-speed wireless backhaul. We believe this solution demonstrates Askey’s commitment to developing practical, scalable technologies that help our customers expand broadband services more efficiently.”
“Dragonwing platforms are helping enable new possibilities for high-capacity broadband connectivity and wireless infrastructure,” said Gautam Sheoran, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Connectivity, Broadband, Networking, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. “Together with Askey’s LBR solution, operators can leverage a flexible wireless approach for both broadband access and high-speed backhaul.”
By bringing together Askey’s broadband networking and system integration expertise with Dragonwing platforms, the solution offers operators a flexible approach to expanding broadband access and wireless infrastructure across a range of deployment scenarios.
